Ibiza fascinates with its contrasts. You will notice this even before you arrive. On flights from mainland Europe, you will see clubbers, yoga retreat-goers, and families sharing the same cabin. The island welcomes all types of travellers.
Ibiza offers many restaurants, shops, and, most importantly, accommodations. These suit its diverse group of visitors, from party lovers to laid-back beach explorers. You’ll find anything from rustic tapas bars to chic, modern eateries, plus boutique stores and luxury hotels—perfect for those seeking a truly upscale getaway.

The Concept
“The simple premise behind The Standard is that it is anything but. Founded in 1999, the goals of every Standard are to up the aesthetic stakes and defy convention while attending to every detail, embracing our local communities, providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for our teams, and, of course, delivering a smashing good time for our guests.”

Location
The Standard Ibiza hotel sits in the heart of Ibiza Town. Its prime location places you steps from historic attractions and vibrant nightlife. Each suite offers upscale amenities, and the property’s chic design exudes modern luxury. Guests can stay in the iconic Castle Suite, discover the rooftop pool, and enjoy swift access to the island’s beaches without sacrificing tranquility.
After a tapas dinner, walk down to the port. It is just steps from the hotel. The Standard Ibiza stands on one of the main plazas, technically Avenida Vara de Rey. Shops, restaurants, and bars surround you. Everything is within easy reach. During my visit, a Christmas market added a festive touch. Visitors and locals alike enjoyed the lively atmosphere.

Arrival/Departure Information
The hotel is a quick 20-minute taxi ride from Ibiza airport. Depending on traffic, you could be enjoying the rooftop pool or exploring Ibiza Town in less than half an hour. Refreshments at reception were a welcome sight after our journey.
The check-in process was swift, and we were escorted to our suite where we received a brief tour of the amenities. Departure was equally efficient, with the hotel kindly storing our luggage while we enjoyed one final walk around Ibiza Town. Upon our return, the receptionist promptly called a taxi for our ride back to the airport. Overall, the arrival and departure processes were very smooth. 10/10.
The Castle Suite
I spent a few days in The Castle Suite at The Standard Ibiza. The suite has five balconies, each with spectacular views of the Ibiza Castle. I woke up each morning and saw the castle from my bed.

The suite offers plenty of space to relax or host friends. Enter through the main door. There is also a service door leading to a small catering kitchen. The dining room seats eight and can serve as a boardroom. We used it for breakfast, lunch, and as my home office.
A separate room sits at the building’s corner. It has two balconies—one faces a side street and the other overlooks the main plaza and castle. This room is perfect for entertaining. It features comfortable seating and a fully stocked bar. The Standard Ibiza does not allow BYOB. Only hotel-served alcoholic drinks are permitted.

The other end of The Castle Suite houses a spacious bedroom with a king-size bed. I enjoyed opening the curtains each morning to see the castle and sip hot coffee. The room includes a comfortable chair, reading light, and a third TV. The walk-in wardrobe provides ample space and a safe large enough for a laptop. The bathroom is even larger. It offers a double vanity, a massive walk-in rain shower, and a sizeable bathtub.

Dining
The Jara restaurant on the ground floor serves breakfast for hotel guests and is also open to non-guests for coffee, food, and drinks throughout the day. The cuisine is fresh with Mexican influences, and the vibe is trendy yet relaxed. This area also hosts regular events; Wednesday Bingo night is particularly popular among locals and hotel guests. Don’t miss it!

Other Amenities
The gym in the basement features the usual cardio equipment one would expect from a hotel of this caliber, along with free weights and resistance machines. The photo below makes it look very red, but it doesn’t feel that way in real life. Fresh towels and bottled water are available for guests. During the warmer months, the rooftop pool and bar area provide a perfect spot to enjoy cool refreshments and a bite to eat while soaking in the fresh air and views of the castle and Ibiza Town.

Pros/Cons of the Property
Pros
- Location – Excellent starting point for exploring the old town
- New hotel with modern facilities
- The restaurant is a hub of local community activity
- Clean and comfortable interior, though it is showing signs of wear & tear that would be associated with cheap material
- Spectacular views, especially on the castle side of the building the rooftop pool/bar area
Cons
- Location – Not ideal if direct beach access is a priority; The Standard Ibiza is not a beach resort.
