Kimpton Aysla Mallorca is one of the most accomplished wellness-focused luxury hotels on the Balearic Islands, opened in 2022 and set in a tranquil location near Santa Ponça, 2km from the town and away from the busier resort areas of Mallorca. Reviewed in April 2025 by Steve Michailidis, a London-based luxury travel advisor and IHG Destined affiliated agent, this boutique-style property stands out for its exceptional spa — featuring a Himalayan salt relaxation room, spacious dry sauna, reformer pilates studio, and Spa by Codage — alongside three dining venues, complimentary daily Social Hour wine tastings, and e-bike rentals. For travellers seeking a restorative, design-led escape that prioritises wellness without sacrificing luxury, it is among the strongest choices in Mallorca.

And just like that, the weekend comes to an end! I booked my flights and hotel what feels like almost  a year ago, and having never been to Mallorca before, I wasn’t sure what to expect. As the trip approached, I realised I truly needed a wellness break—both physically and mentally—so even a short getaway felt like the perfect escape.

Kimpton Aysla Mallorca: Overview and First Impressions

Kimpton Aysla Mallorca is a luxurious retreat nestled in the heart of the Balearic Islands, bringing the signature Kimpton charm to Spain. The brand is known for its boutique-style properties, blending contemporary design with warm hospitality, and this Mallorca outpost is no exception. Set apart from the busier areas, the hotel offers a tranquil environment perfect for relaxation and rejuvenation.

Kimpton Aysla Mallorca is 2 km from Santa Ponça. The hotel feels secluded, away from crowded tourist hotspots.

For a wider Mediterranean itinerary combining Mallorca with the French Riviera, my review of Hôtel du Couvent in Nice covers one of the most distinctive hotels in the region — a 17th-century convent ranked in the World’s 50 Best Hotels.

Arrival at Kimpton Aysla Mallorca: Check-In and Welcome

Staff greeted us with a cold towel and almond horchata — a refreshing and specifically Mallorcan welcome that immediately set the hotel apart from the generic luxury playbook. Check-in was seamless, with a team member personally escorting us to the room and walking through every feature and complimentary offering before leaving us to settle in.

Kimpton Aysla Mallorca Rooms: What to Expect

The rooms at Kimpton Aysla Mallorca are designed with comfort in mind. Even the entry-level rooms were spacious and practical enough. We booked a King Room and were allocated one with a garden facing the golf course.

Some of the room features worth highlighting  included:

  • Nespresso coffee machine & kettle for tea lovers. Nespresso pods were the biodegradable variety.
  • A steamer instead of an iron. Something I consider a real luxury and perfect for freshening up wrinkled clothes that have been rolled up/folded in a suitcase for hours.
  • Complimentary bottled water, replenished daily.
  • Codage toiletries (in large refillable bottles) adding a touch of indulgence to the bathroom experience.
  • A fantastic rain shower. I am not normally a fan of rain showers but this was really powerful and maintained a consistent temperature, though it did tend to spray beyond the shower area.
  • Bluetooth speaker for personalised in-room entertainment.
  • A laptop-sized safe
  • Yoga mat. Another touch that I really liked, even though I didn’t get to use it on this trip, it would be great to practice yoga or pilates on the outdoor terrace.
  • A stylish ceiling fan above the bed, reminiscent of an aircraft propeller, adding both function and flair. #avgeek

A supremely comfortable bed, ensuring restful sleep, with breakfast available until 11 am, so no early morning rush!

The garden (and terrace) itself featured a couple seats and loungers. It was a bit chilly when we visited, so we only used the chairs for an hour or so, relaxing with a cup of coffee and reading in peace and quiet. In front of the garden was the golf course.

Kimpton Aysla Mallorca Restaurants: Zayr, Saba and Breakfast

Kimpton Aysla Mallorca offers three distinct dining venues, each showcasing different flavours:

  • Zayr – An outdoor lunch spot offering fresh, grilled dishes, or just cocktails by the pool and a few  tasty snacks [Source].
  • Saba Mediterranean – Spanish-inspired cuisine, featuring dishes like grilled avocado and pulpo [Source].
  • Saba Asian – A fusion of Korean and Japanese flavours.

Breakfast was a highlight of the stay. Served at Saba, it featured an extensive buffet with smoked salmon, pastries, fresh fruit, cereals, and local delicacies like almond cake. Eggs were made to order, and there were excellent coffee options, including espresso and French press.

The addition of different  juices and Cava made breakfast feel extra indulgent. The restaurant’s terrace and floor-to-ceiling doors created a bright and airy dining environment, perfect for a relaxed start to the day.

The almond cake at breakfast is a specifically Mallorcan touch I appreciated — the kind of local detail that the best hotels always get right. It sits alongside the Za’atar croissant at Conrad Abu Dhabi and the chocolate croissant pudding at The Sukhothai Bangkok in my mental list of hotel breakfast moments worth travelling for.

Kimpton Aysla Mallorca Spa and Wellness: Codage, Sauna and Pools

For those seeking wellness and relaxation, the hotel’s spa and wellness facilities are outstanding:

  • A massive dry sauna, accommodating up to 30 people (my estimate. Don’t quote me!)
  • A steam room and Himalayan salt relaxation room, offering detoxifying benefits.
  • An ice therapy area, perfect for post-sauna refreshment.
  • Spa by Codage, with personalised skincare analysis and bespoke serums [Source].
  • A heated indoor pool for year-round use.
  • Two outdoor pools, including an adults-only option, ideal for peaceful lounging.

The Himalayan salt relaxation room deserves particular mention — the microclimate created by the salt walls has a genuinely calming effect that’s distinct from a standard relaxation room, and it’s one of the more unusual wellness inclusions I’ve encountered at a hotel of this size. Combined with the spacious dry sauna (the largest hotel sauna I’ve encountered anywhere) and the ice therapy area, the thermal journey here is comprehensive in a way that rivals dedicated spa hotels.

The thermal facilities here compare well to the Nordic Spa at Grand Hôtel Stockholm — a completely different aesthetic but the same commitment to the hydrotherapy experience.

My favourite facility though was the fitness centre. The hotel opened in 2022 and the gym still looks brand new. There is a range of cardio, free weights, as well as resistance training equipment. A reformer pilates machine (only to be used with the assistance of a personal trainer).  There is also a daily wellness program, including yoga, pilates, and strength training classes.

Kimpton Aysla Mallorca Activities: Social Hour, E-Bikes and More

Kimpton Aysla Mallorca goes beyond the typical luxury hotel experience by offering curated activities  in and around Santa Ponça, Mallorca:

  • Pre-arrival concierge service, reaching out two weeks before check-in to gather preferences and dietary requirements.
  • Social Hour from 5-6 pm, featuring a local wine tasting.
  • Complimentary e-bike rentals, complete with helmets, locks, and water bottles.

Service at Kimpton Aysla Mallorca: Relaxed, Warm and Unobtrusive

Housekeeping replenished water and Nespresso pods daily. Service was warm and professional, yet refreshingly relaxed. If you prefer highly attentive, frequent service checks, this may not be the place for you—the approach here is more laid-back and unobtrusive.

FAQ

Q: Is Kimpton Aysla Mallorca the best wellness hotel in Mallorca? A: For travellers whose priority is a comprehensive wellness offering combined with boutique design and quality dining, it is among the strongest options on the island. The spa facilities — a Himalayan salt room, spacious dry sauna, ice therapy area, reformer pilates equipment, Spa by Codage, heated indoor pool, and two outdoor pools — go significantly beyond what most Mallorca hotels offer at this price point. The complimentary daily Social Hour wine tasting and e-bike rentals add an experiential dimension that larger resort hotels rarely match.

Q: Where is Kimpton Aysla Mallorca located? A: The hotel is situated near Santa Ponça in southwest Mallorca, approximately 2km from the town and 30 minutes from Palma Airport. The location is intentionally removed from the busier beach resort areas — quiet, green, and set against a golf course — which makes it ideal for a restorative stay rather than a beach-club holiday.

Q: Is Kimpton Aysla Mallorca good for a couple’s wellness retreat? A: It is one of the most well-suited hotels in the Balearic Islands for exactly this purpose. The adults-only outdoor pool, the Spa by Codage couples treatments, the intimate dining at Saba, the complimentary Social Hour, and garden-facing rooms with private terraces create a genuinely restorative environment. Steve visited specifically for a wellness break and would return — which for a travel advisor who has reviewed hotels across four continents is a meaningful endorsement.

Q: What is Spa by Codage at Kimpton Aysla Mallorca? A: Codage is a French skincare brand known for personalised, serum-based treatments. The Spa by Codage at Kimpton Aysla offers bespoke skincare analysis and tailored treatments, using the same large refillable Codage bottles that are provided in the guest rooms. The spa facilities include a Himalayan salt relaxation room, a dry sauna accommodating that can accommodate several people, a steam room, ice therapy area, heated indoor pool, and two outdoor pools. A structured daily wellness programme includes yoga, pilates, and strength training classes.

Q: What is the Social Hour at Kimpton Aysla Mallorca? A: The Social Hour is a complimentary daily event from 5–6pm in a dedicated area by the indoor restaurants — a signature Kimpton brand offering featuring local wine tasting and light refreshments. It is available to all guests regardless of room category or booking channel, costs nothing extra, and is one of the most distinctive inclusions of any hotel reviewed on this site. It transforms the pre-dinner hour into a genuine social experience rather than a quiet gap in the day.

Q: What perks do you get booking Kimpton Aysla Mallorca through an IHG Destined advisor? A: Booking through Steve Michailidis as an IHG Destined affiliated travel advisor includes a $100 USD hotel credit per stay, complimentary daily breakfast for two, a complimentary room upgrade subject to availability, a local welcome amenity, early check-in and late check-out subject to availability, and IHG One Rewards points and night credits. There are no booking fees.

Q: Is Kimpton Aysla Mallorca open year-round? A: Yes — the heated indoor pool and comprehensive spa facilities make it a viable destination outside the main summer season. Steve visited in April and found the property excellent for a spring wellness break, with the outdoor terrace and gardens already enjoyable and the spa at its most peaceful before the summer crowds arrive.

Is Kimpton Aysla Mallorca Worth It?

I arrived needing a break and left genuinely restored. That is the most honest summary I can offer of Kimpton Aysla Mallorca — and for a wellness-focused hotel, it is the only verdict that really matters.

What makes it work is the combination of things it does at a level well above its category. The sauna is extraordinary — spacious, properly hot, and the kind of space that makes you rearrange your afternoon around it. The Himalayan salt room is a rarity in Mallorca at any price point. The Codage treatments are personalised in a way that most hotel spas aren’t. And the complimentary Social Hour — a local wine tasting every evening at 5pm, just there, included, without ceremony — is the kind of gesture that makes a hotel feel genuinely hospitable rather than transactional.

The service is deliberately relaxed rather than attentive, which won’t suit everyone. If you’re accustomed to the proactive, name-remembering intensity of a Four Seasons or The Langham, the pace here is gentler. But if what you need is space, calm, and a hotel that trusts you to use its facilities as you wish — this is exactly right.

For a long weekend from London, a spring or autumn escape before the Balearic crowds arrive, or a couple’s retreat centred on wellness rather than beaches, Kimpton Aysla Mallorca is the most complete option I’ve found on the island. Booking through me as an IHG Destined advisor adds $100 credit, breakfast, and an upgrade (subject to availability) at no extra cost.

Considering a longer Spanish or Balearic itinerary? Get in touch and I’ll build the full routing — Mallorca pairs beautifully with Barcelona or the Basque Country, and I can advise on hotels across the peninsula.
